South African singer-songwriter Roland Albertson officially started his public music career when he released his debut EP/mini-album, Legends of the Sun, on February 28, 2010.

Born in South Africa, he balanced his love for music and the ocean by completing a "surfing degree" alongside a formal IT Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT).

He moved to London, where he officially cut his teeth in the industry. He started by playing local pub gigs, restaurants, and acoustic open-mic nights to build up his performing skills before assembling a full backing band.

Much like Jack Johnson, Roland's music features a heavily laid-back, acoustic beach vibe. His songs naturally blend elements of pop, alternative, and Americana, while maintaining a subtle, integral African rhythm.
